The DCA Process

Clarity is the key to everything
Clarity is the key to everything

One of my own tools is the DCA Process which stands for Define, Create, Apply.

The point of the process is to bring clarity - it stands for...

DEFINE- (THE OBJECTIVE / PROBLEM)

The What, When, Who, How and the Why.

Interpret what’s really going on using Socratic interview techniques and Appreciative inquiry amongst other tools.

CREATE - (THE NEXT STEPS)

The steps required to meet your success factors.

Shrinking the task in order to get going. Oil the wheels. Identifying the low hanging fruit etc.

Then iterate over and over.

APPLY - (THE FIRST STEP)

To the business, the marketplace, the workplace and all points in between. What are the straight edges?

Decide, play, experience, measure, test, experiment, innovate and iterate using Action Learning, Design Thinking amongst many other tools.

'The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.' ~ Mark Twain

This is how I approach helping SMEs get clear about what they want, make a plan, then apply the steps required to fulfil the goal.
